#71I have already said why this program's concept is seriously misdirected. Now, from other users, I read the following complaints:- There's no tree view.- There's no proper help offered, either within the product or online. If this is true, then the program is totally useless. Il have checked the publisher's website, and under 'Support', there's. Absolutely nothing. Except an email address.
It's supposed to be a support address, however the site says it's there only for 'comments and suggestions'. So, one-way communication, not two-way.The online FAQ is minimal. There's a 'Features' pages which is quite developed, to the point of looking like a quick tutorial. However, it's not a user manual or knowledge base, by a long, long way.
There's no user forum.Slick site, flashy software with too many colours, but nothing suggesting this is a tool a serious power user should invest time and effort into getting to learn. ((do get rather annoyed when I'm trying to find out how people like a program, but have to scan past 20 paragraphs of 'How do I register this program?' Because they didn't bother to read the readme. ANYWAY, this is a nice clear program. I like the options available for the color contrast on the pages, and I am also very impressed by the number of functions available here.
I very much like the split view. I am also extremely impressed that I was able to load it onto my main computer and a thumb drive - no problems at all. Thanks so much, GAOTD and Pylonos! Clairvaux,Programs like this are for users who want more options, features and powers. Power users, if you will.
Casual users who get put off by options and customization wouldn't be looking for alternative file managers in the first place, as Windows Explorer is enough for these people. The whole point of programs like this is customization and features. So I have to say that you're wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with offering choice and customization in programs like this. You're only complaining because this program isn't for you.

You're only complaining because this program isn't for you. Enrique Tassin, I totally agree with you. You saved me time from typing the whole thing. In my opinion as far as the previous comment about windows explorer goes it is like shopping in a dollar store for lets say.cosmetics (not that I use any!!!) vs say MACYS. The last usable windows explorer for me was the XP flavor.
Since then with every version some usability was taken out and now I find having to make 2-3 more clicks to accomplish the same task as back then. Not to mention the quick icon customization of the window bar menu.

I use a (quite expensive) third-party replacement for Windows Explorer.
It's called Directory Opus. It has a manual more than 1 000 pages long. It's extremely customisable, by the way.3.
Although I'm quite satisfied with Directory Opus, I'm in the market for yet other alternatives to Windows Explorer, because I'm always on the hunt for innovative and brilliant software. Now you can re-read my comment, and try to understand why it was foolish of you to pretend I was wrong, instead of just saying you held a different opinion. And maybe trying to explain why you like Omega Commender, which would have been more helpful to others than your puerile attempt at a put-down.
That is, if you were not just trolling, and you really have an informed opinion on Omega Commender. Enrique Tassin,You completely missed my point.1. I'm a power user.2. I use a (quite expensive) third-party replacement for Windows Explorer.

I read that oMegaCommender does not offer a tree view (which in my opinion disqualifies any software provider of file managers today regardless of whether this feature is used permanently or occasionally). I read this GAOTD has problems with proper sorting of files (how about sorting folders by name, date, size, etc.)?
Are any useful plugins available for free? And how about customisation of the interface, shortcuts Etc.

In the free option all features are available and the only disadvantage is that when you open the software you need to click once to open the programme. The click does not invoke any internet transfer of data or other system operations which many other free software pieces do. And when you buy the TC all you get is that you’ll be free that disadvantage. I do not see this disadvantage a great problem as I open the software when I start working on my machine and it runs seamlessly until I close my comp.Needless to say, by saying that I do not intend, nor do I want to instigate anybody to use TC, but simply want to know whether the GAOTD offers any features superb to TC so that I should replace TC with the GAOTD.

Mikik, I would love to answer your question as precisely as possible, but I do not think I can (what is OC?) Insread, all I can do is to tell my story: I started using TC many, many years ago (I think as soon as as it appeared on the net) and I had their licence then (it was really inexpensive). I registered to the TC mailing list and forum. Then I moved to another location and left my comp to my brother. I bought another comp and downloaded free version from TC (not a crack!!!) and since then I’ve been using it. You made me alarmed that I may have overlooked the 30-day period and am using it illegally.
I need to check it and if so, I’ll purchase the licence as I hate exploiting softare to the detriment of its decent author who I think Ghisler is. The fact is that even if that period had lapsed nothing changed in the functionality of the programme. Editable ini file is there and I can modify it. Plugins and other features work seamlessly. May be the shareware statement by Ghisler is intended to impose a merely moral obligation on the user and is not an actual warning that the software will not work past the trial period (the latter policy being commonly used by many programmers). Thanks for the head-up. Marek, if you have to click 'one, two or three' to start TC, you are using the shareware version. The need to click one of those goes away with the registered version.
It is possible to use it 'forever' without paying and update it when new versions are released. Christian Ghisler seems to be of the opinion that if you like it, you will buy it, and doesn't cripple it except for the need of one click at startup.I've had a couple of hours with oMega and like it a lot, but after 20 some years with Total Commander, I am unlikely to change. The lack of a tree command wouldn't bother me as it does some, as I have used it maybe twice in all the years of owning TC. I'll hang on to oMega and use it occasionally.
Who knows, maybe it.will. be possible to teach this old dog new tricks. Marek, if you have to click 'one, two or three' to start TC, you are using the shareware version. Dear Martin, thank you for your reply and explanations.I rush to pay Christian Ghisler right now what I have owed him for years. I really feel shame that I have misinterpred Christian Ghisler’s generosity! And Christian should be considered an exemplary and great person to be praised for his genuinely user-frienly approach and excellent product, as opposed to those hords of software con developers who claim to be professional and user-friendly whilst all they can do is to drain customer pockets.Cheers,Marek. So i think it desperately needs a file manager all Win 7, 8 & 10.
But this file manager isn't that impressive, it doesn't preview file and folder's in list and doesn't sorts them with similar.ext.I had some hopes for this software. Plus it is 4 MB bigger than XYplorer.
Shotty is a screenshot capture tool that allows you to edit your images and upload them directly to the internet using different servers. The screenshot editor allows you to crop some parts of the image, highlight text, blur something (which is very useful for text that you don't want people to read), make little doodles and write.Another option, which is almost as interesting as being able to edit the screenshots you've just taken, is the possibility of uploading the images directly to any online image server with just a click. So, it's a lot easier to share the images or upload them to forums or blogs.Shotty is a very interesting application. Its small size, the fact that it uses very few resources, and its excellent functions make it a very good alternative to the most well-known programs.
